OT recommend me some new music v.IndieRock

I’ve been working a lot and haven’t been able to keep up on new music.

My favorite bands right now in order are

1. The Shins
2. Band of Horses
3. Death Cab for Cutie

I also dig some of the electronic stuff like Bloc Party, MGMT, and Does It Offend You, Yeah?

I assume you have already listened to Kings of Leon (your playlist seems to fit right in with these guys). I also assume you have listened to Spoon, especially their album "Kill the Moonlight". You might also like Thom Yorke (from Radiohead), and his album ‘The Eraser’.

It’s hard to give you new ideas when I have no idea what all you have listened to. I am tempted to make a list of 50 essential albums, but maybe you’ve heard of most of them? I’m mainly into the electronic genre though.
yea I’ve heard all those. I’m kind of looking for new stuff, bands that haven’t made it commercial yet. I’ve heard pretty much everything that has been played on a radio etc.

What about these? They aren’t new, but good nonetheless.

90% of the time i am listening to radiohead though. no matter how many times i listen to their stuff it never gets old.
i like sooo many bands, but nothing grabs me as much as radiohead’s. i try really hard to find someone as good though.

on a related not, what does indie rock even mean? the shins are not on an independent label but are considered indie, so what gives?

this may be a little different, but dredg. they are dope and local to me, and their new album is about to drop. very progressive and a little indie
i’m gonna 2nd …and you will know us by the trail of dead. also try ghost buffalo, black mountain, terminal lovers, muse (hardly indie and unknown though), tom waits (see muse), von bondies, eksi ekso, actors & actresses, and if you wanted something else along the lines of black keys, try chicken legs weaver.

You might like Mute Math, they’re pretty good.

I really like a band right now called Metric, a lot of people really like them.
A weird but kind of good electronic group is Crystal Castles (especially their song Crimewave)
Not all indie rock but i like these bands at the moment.

Friendly Fires are pretty cool, more of a synth pop type group.
M83 are great electronic act with a bit of rock/pop thrown in
Phoenix are quite good indie/pop
Foals british indie rock act.
White Lies are really good IMO. joy division/killers sort of feel.
