Is there such a thing as modern "acid rock"?

And if so please recommend me some recent magic.

I’m taking a class about mid 1900s American culture and, of course, counterculture is involved. I grew up listening to bands like steppenwolf, The Jimi Hendrix experience, etc… thanks to my parents being of that era (though still WAY conservative) and I am a HUGE dark side of the moon fan. If I dont have anything to do for an hour I often just dim the lights and throw this album on . This class has sparked my interest back into this sort of music (I never had a heavy interest in it before, dont get me wrong).

Song that’s been pwning me since I started this genre stint:

Modern similar to this style would be sweet.

Obviously you cant match the greats. I feel like such bands of that era will be considered Mozart/Beethoven status in time.
I think something like Kenny Rogers & The First Edition "Just Dropped In" could qualify.

some of my favorite.
My dad played this album for me when I was a kid.
I have it framed and hanging on the wall in this room.

Here is a pic of it before I hung it on the wall.

then there is also sludge rock or stoner rock.
You looking for stuff like that?

I’m looking for guitar, bass, drums, and any other instrument combined to make funky sound you can move to. I’m goning on a genre stint as my life’s music discoverys have almost always been. I’m not looking to identify with a single drug as every drug has its own profound effect on music.

I like reggae, dub, reggaefusion, ska, roots, classic rock, some alternative rock (ie not lame shit), along with an interest in hip hop/rap as most people of my generation. I like meshing of genres, one of the first things that attracted me to ska was its blues/jazz sound with the bass guitar riffs and the sax and trumpet.

I also listen to almost every type of music. I give an open ear to anything that sparks my interest.
You should check out a band called
These Monsters – Call Me Dragon
Here is a review

The sax in the songs really works well with the music.
